How to drive traffic to your website?

Traffic for a blogger or webpage creator is the most important thing. What would your beautiful pages be for if there's no visitors?

Be active in forums (keep a link to your website in the signature) and on the internet in general.
Try creating YouTube videos attracting people to your website. If you are good enough to make them go viral, it's a great opportunity for your webpage.

Create a fan-page on social sites, communicate with your fans every day to keep the fan-page alive. You can try creating a contest with a prize to win, which might drive some traffic to your website. Contest where people have to share a link to your webpage on Facebook is a good way of cheap(depends on prize and number of shares) advertising!

Growing traffic
Use free banner exchange pages like:
www.thebannerexchange.com
www.linkbuddies.com

If you have some money to spare, you can invest money into PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising systems such as Google Adsense (The best in the market).

How to make money by blogging

There are several ways of making money described in another article: http://www.moneyandinternetbusiness.com/2013/10/how-to-make-money-online-without.html

This time I will try to answer these questions:

Does the topic of my blog influence my earnings?
Yes, in many ways.

  • Can you attract enough unique visitors to your blog?
  • Are your keywords searched a lot?
  • Or is the topic very specific? (e.g Scientific blog about some specific problem)
This leads to these two questions:
  • Are there any advertisers that might be interested in putting their ads to your blog?
In google adwords, you exactly choose the keywords for which the ads should be shown - So if your blog is about Techniques of measuring distance between the Earth and the Moon - there is a big chance, nobody is interested in such a topic.

On the other hand, I love RC planes, and often visit pages about them (those pages leave cookies on my PC), and very often if I visit a page absolutely unrelated to RC planes, there are advertisements from RC plane sellers!

  • Are there enough people on earth I can possibly attract?
The best idea is to research your keywords through google keyword planner
Don't forget, the more unique visitors a day you can attract, the better.
Blogs with the same visitors each day, or high amount of returning traffic are not very suitable and their earnings will probably be much lower compared to the blogs with high amount of unique visitors each day. It's called Ad blindness.

Few ideas on how to get more traffic?

  • Make a Facebook fan page
  • Research keywords suitable for your blog by google keyword planner
  • Be an active forum member, put your website in the signature
  • Make a contest with a prize for attracting people
  • Exchange links/banners with fellow bloggers
  • Pay for advertisement
  • DO NOT SPAM!

How to make money online without investment

Of course, there are many ,,guaranteed recipes" about how to invest your money. But is it possible to begin earning money online without any investments?
The answer is YES. For example most of the bloggers started by a simple free blog on a blogging site such as www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com.

There are several ways of earning money without investing:

Blogging
Blogging is just one of many ways of  making real money online, and your success depends mostly on your dedication to achieve your goal.

Your goal: make quick money online - Bad

If you want your blog to succeed and to get a lot of traffic, your aim should be to satisfy your visitors needs - let them find what they are looking for.

If your blog's name is:  How to teach a parrot speak?   Your visitors expect some advises, tips and tricks, tutorials, your content has to be unique and of high quality. Create a youtube video of yourself teaching your parrot funny phrases, and don't forget to advertise your own page in the video/description.
Visit forums dedicated to this topic, share your blog posts with advises.

How to monetize your blog?

1) Advertisement
Question mark made of coins
Putting advertisements on your blog/page is one of the most common ways of earning money. It's very simple once you have your blog running. You get paid for each time someone clicks on an advertisement on your page or by an amount of views of the advertisement. The advertisements are contextual, so people are more likely to be interested in the advertised product/webpage/service, that means they are more likely to click on it. The most widespread advertising system is Google Adsense, but be careful to obey their rules. The main rules are:

  • Never click your own advertisement.
  • Do not use systems for automatic generation of views or clicks.
  • Do not urge people to click on your advertisements.
  • Do not share data like earnings, cost per like anywhere.
  • Do not place their advertisements on page which violates their guidelines. e.g the page which sells alcohol, hacking/cracking content, pornography (whole list: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/48182?hl=en)
These are just few of the adsense rules.

Making your own blog is NOT a quick way how to earn money, but it is a good way once you get into it, which takes a lot of time and dedication.

2) Affiliate marketing
Earning money for mediating sale of some products or services. You will get a percentage of the profit.
If you review washing machines in your blog, you can provide a link which will lead the visitor to the sellers page. In most cases, there is a time limit (e.g. 30 days), in which if the sale is made, you will get your share of profit.
One of the best places to look for your merchants is http://www.abestweb.com/

Example affiliate pages:
www.good3dprojector.com
www.bestsurvivalknifeguide.com

Both sites are using amazon associates affiliate program. Amazons cookie lasts only for 24 hours - but you get commissions for everything what the customer which came through your site buys! Commissions for amazon starts at 4% and change with the amount of products sold through you.

This is a very good way of earning money!

Making money on youtube

Do you have a succesfull youtube channel? You can monetize it by adding advertisement to your videos.
This can be made directly on your youtube channel settings page.

If you don't have a channel, and you are looking for a good idea, there are some tips:

Reviewing products
Comedy
Parodies
Tutorials
Extreme things
Beautiful videos
Videos about your passion/hobby (e.g. RC plane videos, videos of wild animals)

Selling video footage/animations

Video footage can be offered the same way as the stock photography.

It's not a simple, nor fast way of making money on the web. Browse through the stock videos and animations offered on these pages to see if you are capable of making such a high quality videos or animations.

Selling 3d models

A lot of artist and companies buy ready-made 3d models instead of spending hours to create a model on their own. Modelling and texturing high quality object takes a lot of time - buying one can be cheaper than hiring an 3d artist.

Most of the marketplaces will give you higher royalty in exchange for exclusivity. It's up to you to decide whether listing in several marketplaces at lower royalty will earn you more than listing just on one site but with higher royalty.

Several sites to sell models on:

Selling music/audio

Are you a free time musical composer? If you think you are talented and you can create nice musical compositions, try selling them on sites such as:
http://audiojungle.net/
http://www.pond5.com/sound-effects/1/*.html

Is your hobby recording everything you hear around you? Birds, wind, rain..
This sounds are widely used in movie creation, games, commercials, music.

Selling photographs

All kinds of photographs and graphics are needed for newspaper, blogging, video production, web page creation, advertisement. If you are a talented photographer (with a camera of high quality) or an experienced graphics artist, try selling your creations on these sites:

http://www.ktools.net/photostore/
http://www.shutterpoint.com/Sell-Photos.cfm
http://www.shutterstock.com/
http://www.alamy.com/

These sites sell royalty free pictures. What does it mean?

Royalty free is - free of royalties. That means the customer only buys the licence once, and don't have to pay for each printout created, or each website in which he puts it, or for time he want to have it on his blog. He only pays once, which is very simple and appropriate for most of the internet users, blog and website authors, and small commercial businesses.
